Master RFC queues, HANA perf, and HA operations using real-world enterprise prod scenarios and interview frameworks

What you’ll learn
Troubleshoot SAP RFC and queues using SM58, SMQ1/2, SMQR, and SMQS to keep integrations stable and resolve async communication bottlenecks
Diagnose SAP HANA performance issues like delta merge delays, lock contention, and partition bottlenecks using real-world troubleshooting steps
Operate SAP HANA HA and HSR with Pacemaker, understanding failover, cluster health checks, and rolling maintenance in multi-node landscapes.
Apply a structured Basis troubleshooting flow in S/4HANA to move from user complaints to evidence-based root cause across app and DB layers.

Requirements
Some exposure to SAP Basis or system administration is helpful (e.g. you’ve seen SM50/SM66 or worked with a Basis team), but strong senior-level Basis experience is not required
General understanding of IT infrastructure concepts such as servers, operating systems, and databases; you don’t need to be an expert, but you should know what an app server and a DB server are
Basic familiarity with SAP from a user or consultant perspective (for example, you’ve logged into an SAP system and know what a transaction code is).
Access to any SAP trial, sandbox, or training system is recommended so you can follow along with SM58, SMQ1/2, HANA, HSR, and HA examples, but the course can still be followed using on-screen demos only.

Description
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

If you’re a SAP Basis or HANA administrator who can “keep the system running” but struggles to explain real incidents and HA designs in interviews, this course is for you.

Instead of generic theory, we work throughconcrete, production-style scenarios that show how experienced Basis engineers think, troubleshoot, and communicate.

You’ll start withSAP RFC and queue management, learning how to use SM58, SMQ1, SMQ2, SMQS, and SMQR to keep tRFC and qRFC traffic healthy, avoid backlog explosions, and explain your actions clearly in an interview or RCA meeting.

Next, we dive intoSAP HANA performance issues, including a real incident involving ACDOCA, delta merge blocking, lock contention, and cascading performance impact. You’ll see how to go from “users say it’s slow” to hard evidence using tools like SM50/SM66, ST05, HANA Cockpit, expensive statement analysis, and statement hash, and how to reason about execution engines (legacy OLAP/COLUMN vs newer HEX paths) when tuning HANA.

You’ll then exploreHANA System Replication and HA operations with Pacemaker, focusing on how to run a Rolling Kernel Switch (RKS) in a two-node cluster without business downtime. We’ll walk through pre-checks, kernel staging, controlled failover, kernel replacement, failback, and validation, and clarify what Pacemaker automates versus what you must sequence manually as a Basis admin.

In theS/4HANA performance tuning section, you’ll learn a practical diagnostic flow using SM50, SM66, ST05, /n/SDF/SMON, and HANA expensive statements to isolate hotspots, analyze ABAP and SQL behavior, and avoid common anti-patterns like SELECT inside loops. You’ll also see how to talk about these tools and incidents in a clear, layered way that interviewers expect from senior candidates.

Finally, you’ll watch abonus interview scenario walkthrough, where a full HANA performance incident is narrated end-to-end—from symptoms and tools to root cause, fix, and prevention—so you can copy the same structure when describing your own experience in interviews.

Who this course is for
SAP Basis administrators and S/4HANA technical consultants who want real production scenarios on RFC queues, HANA performance incidents, HSR, HA operations, and S/4HANA performance troubleshooting (not just theory).
L2/L3 SAP support engineers who already work with tickets and alerts and want a structured troubleshooting playbook for issues like stuck queues, HANA delta-merge and lock problems, HA failover behavior, and slow S/4 transactions.
Basis professionals preparing for technical job interviews who need clear, story-based explanations of real incidents: RFC backlogs, HANA performance crises, three‑node HSR setups, Pacemaker operations, and S/4HANA performance tuning.
System administrators or tech-minded SAP functional consultants who already know basic SAP navigation and want to step up into Basis / HANA / HA topics with guided demos, OS‑level explanations, and practical checklists they can use on real systems.
